Set in the heart of Hardy country, in the picturesque village of Piddletrenthide, 

South House Retreat is a unique place for writers, artists, creative people

and those who just want to rest and visit our beautiful county.

Run by writer Tracy Willoughby and her artist husband Martin,

this 200-year old Regency style house is a wonderfully tranquil

place. There are five bedrooms all with big comfy beds, desks

and relaxation space, three bathrooms, a therapy room where

you can book wonderful holistic treatments, a large

lounge/library, homely kitchen with aga, open fires,

studio space for painting, art and craft gallery, large walled

garden, hot tub and the river Piddle running through the grounds.

There is no minimum stay at South House Retreat,

though with bed and breakfast, half and full board options as

well as bespoke packages, you are likely to want to linger!

Alongside the guest facility South House hold a number of

residential and non-residential courses for writers and artists; we also rent

out studio space to guests as well as non-residents.

In high season, at weekends non-residents are welcome to visit

our art and craft gallery. When the gallery is open we serve

refreshments, coffee, tea, cake and cream teas.
